NEMA 3R enclosures bring outdoor-rated protection to applications exposed to rain, sleet, and ice accumulation while maintaining the affordable price point that makes them attractive for fence-mounted equipment, exterior control stations, and outdoor utility installations. The robust weatherproof design prevents water ingress from falling rain and wind-driven moisture, though it does not provide the complete watertight performance of NEMA 4 rated equipment.

Unlike NEMA 1 indoor units, NEMA 3R enclosures feature sloped roof designs and gasketed doors that shed water rather than allowing pooling on exposed surfaces. Our laser-cut roof panels incorporate proper drainage angles and our finishing processes apply protective coatings that resist outdoor corrosion caused by UV exposure and salt-laden air.

For applications requiring watertight protection in coastal regions or frequent wash-down environments, NEMA 4 or stainless steel NEMA 4X alternatives provide superior protection despite higher initial investment.
