Gasketed Seam
A sealed joint between the enclosure body and door incorporating a compressible elastomeric gasket. Gasket material and compression are engineered to achieve the sealing performance required by the NEMA rating.
A gasketed seam creates a critical protective barrier between the enclosure body and door, preventing moisture, dust, and contaminants from compromising the internal electrical components and compromising the enclosure's NEMA rating. The gasket material, typically EPDM, silicone, or specialty elastomers, compresses when the door closes, establishing a uniform seal across the entire perimeter without requiring specialized tools or techniques for installation.
Different NEMA classifications specify varying gasket thicknesses and compression rates; for example, NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X enclosures demand heavier gaskets than NEMA 1 indoor units. Our metal finishing process includes precise rebate machining to accommodate gasket material and ensure consistent compression across every surface.
Proper gasket installation and periodic replacement during maintenance ensures your enclosure continues delivering the environmental protection your application demands.
