Stripping

Stripping is the process of automatically removing finished blanks from the cutting zone immediately after the cut is complete, which is essential for maintaining high production throughput and preventing operator confusion or double-cutting. On manual shears, the operator simply lifts the blank away, but on automated CNC shears, pneumatic fingers or rollers grasp the blank and pull or rotate it clear of the table in a coordinated motion timed with the blade's return.

Proper stripping system function is critical to cycle time because if blanks aren't removed reliably, the operator must intervene manually and production slows dramatically. The stripping system must coordinate with the hold-down clamps (which must release at the right moment) and with the next cut's material positioning to maintain a smooth, continuous flow.

When a stripping system malfunctions, it can cause delays and represents a good opportunity to upgrade to faster or more reliable equipment during preventive maintenance windows.
