Knockouts
Pre-formed, partially punched circular openings in enclosure walls that are removed to accommodate conduit fittings, cable entries, and glands. Knockouts are sized to standard electrical trade conduit sizes (1/2 inch through 4 inch).
Knockouts represent a time-tested design feature that provides flexibility for conduit and cable entry without requiring custom cutting during installation at the job site. These pre-formed, partially-punched circular openings come in various standard sizes, typically ½ inch, ¾ inch, and 1 inch, allowing installers to remove only the knockouts they need while leaving others in place.
Our CNC shearing and metal cutting operations create these knockouts with precise radial scoring that allows technicians to remove them quickly using a knockout punch without damaging the surrounding enclosure wall. When designing custom enclosures, specifying knockout locations reduces installation labor costs and provides field installers with standard conduit fitting options.
Unused knockouts maintain the gasketed seam integrity of the enclosure, so proper planning of knockout placement preserves the NEMA rating protection throughout the equipment's service life.
