Handrail Assembly
A fabricated safety railing system consisting of welded posts, top rail, mid-rail, and toe board for industrial mezzanines, platforms, and walkways. Handrails are designed and fabricated to OSHA 1910.29 or IBC building code requirements for load capacity and geometry.
Handrail assemblies are engineered safety systems designed to protect workers navigating elevated platforms and mezzanines where a fall could result in serious injury or death. OSHA 1910.29 prescribes specific requirements: the top rail must be 42 inches high with a deflection of no more than 3 inches under a 200-pound concentrated load, while the mid-rail must be positioned mid-height between top rail and walking surface.
A typical mezzanine handrail installation for a 10,000-square-foot warehouse platform involves 400+ linear feet of welded tube assemblies with posts spaced every 5-6 feet, each welded through-the-base-plate to the structural deck for maximum rigidity. The toe board component prevents material and small tools from falling through to the level below, a critical detail in facilities handling loose parts or granular materials.
Professional welding and inspection ensure every joint meets code requirements and can be verified during facility inspections and insurance audits.
