Deflection Guard
A protective barrier designed to redirect vehicle or forklift impact forces away from columns, equipment, or critical infrastructure. Deflection guards are fabricated from structural tube, pipe, angle, or channel and anchor-bolted to the floor.
Deflection guards function as impact energy absorbers in facilities where moving equipment poses ongoing hazard exposure to fixed infrastructure. Unlike rigid bollards that transfer impact directly to footings, deflection guards are engineered to deform in a controlled manner, dissipating kinetic energy while protecting both the structure and the vehicle causing the impact.
A typical installation protecting a production floor column from forklift contact uses a welded C-channel or tube frame that allows minor deformation on contact, then springs back to full function. Installation height, lateral spacing, and material thickness are determined through structural analysis of typical forklift speeds and weights in your operation.
Our welding expertise ensures corner gussets and joint reinforcement are precisely fabricated to distribute loads uniformly and prevent localized failure points in high-stress areas.
